Welcome to Moore Haven, population 1,680.
Not sure where that is? The tiny town is on the Caloosahatchee River, 55 miles northeast of Fort Myers, near the southwestern edge of Lake Okechobee.
The county seat of Glades County is a tranquil place once off U.S. 27, which teems with truck traffic, more big rigs than pickups.
Moore Haven might seem like the most unlikely place in Southwest Florida primed for economic growth, but it boasts one special ingredient that could prove to be the secret to its financial future: its geography.
The town is about a two-hour drive or less to major seaports and airports on the east and west coasts, making it poised to become a manufacturing and distribution hub.
At least that’s the plan.
